Project
History
In
2006
Tuscola
County
requested a Community Assessment Team (CAT) from MSU Extension to compile a
report on
Tuscola
County
’s economic condition. The
conclusion of the team was that Tuscola needs to reinvent its economy and most
of the ingredients for that transformation have been here for decades. It
was decided, by leaders in the county and concerned citizens, that the best
economic strategy was the one offered by the Sirolli Institute, which uses a
bottom up, grassroots philosophy that begins with what the individual wants
rather than relying on outside sources to decide what is best for the county
and its citizens. County leaders
gathered funding for the project, and attracted interested people.
Twelve board members attended a week long training in April by the Sirolli
Institute.
